According to WebMD, procrastination is a real problem for one in five adults. That said, everyone puts things off from time to time, so how do you recognize whether or not procrastination is a real problem for you? Ask yourself how often to do you put things off. When procrastination is a regular issue with you, then it’s a problem. Procrastination is a habit.
People postpone doing things for a variety of reasons but if you’re a regular procrastinator, then your reasons are rationalizations rather than reasons. It’s important to recognize that that procrastinators are really indulging in a form of self-sabotage. Procrastination represents a profound problem with self-regulation.

Many procrastinators are not aware that procrastinating has a negative influence on even our health. Indeed, according to Psychology Today, “Just over the course of a single academic term, procrastinating college students had such evidence of compromised immune systems as more colds and flu, more gastrointestinal problems. And they had insomnia.”
